Our passion
The Spot is a grassroots organization which relies on the 100+ volunteers that dedicate their time and talents to helping local children. Our program structure includes an Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, operations staff, and volunteers in Canandaigua and Victor.
Our volunteers, affectionately called Spotties, are parents, teachers, retirees, business owners, work teams, church groups, students and community members. Some volunteers join us once or twice a year, others once a month, and some once a week. Our volunteers are in charge of how often they help out and we encourage them to get involved in areas of our program that are most interesting to them.
We have helpers who love to organize and spend time in our resource rooms and others who know everyone in town and opt to work with the development team on fundraising. Maybe you have a knack for social media or a desire to learn more about working in our school food pantry - there is something for everyone and we welcome all levels of time commitments and a variety of talents!

Building Volunteers
Job description:
Sort donations, help restock supplies and keep the school resource rooms organized.
Volunteer time:
1 hour a month or more

Job description:
Help distribute bags of food to families at our drive through pick up or make no-contact deliveries with a partner.
Volunteer time:
1 hour a month

10K Ambassadors
Job description:
Spread the word about the local need, our mission, and how others can help support local students.
Volunteer time:

Pick what fits your schedule. Most jobs take about an hour.

Packing days. Sort food, stock shelves, and pack SpotMart bags before each monthly distribution.

Back to School packing. Each August, help pack 900+ backpacks for the Back to School Bash, or hand them out on distribution day.

Gear Up events. Help set up, run, and tear down our free Gear Up clothing events each fall, and help families find the right fit.

Concert Boutique. Sort and steam dress clothes, and help students with fittings so they feel confident on stage.

Groups and teams. Bring your coworkers, team, troop, class, or church group. Groups pack bags, set up events, and host collection drives.
